US durable goods orders decline in October
Transportation equipment marks 3rd decline in past 4 months

ANKARA (AA) - The US' durable goods orders declined in October from the previous month, despite the market expectation of an increase, according to the US Commerce Department's Census Bureau data released Wednesday.
New orders for manufactured durable goods in October decreased $1.2 billion, or 0.5%, to $260.1 billion.
Durable goods orders, which show the change in total value of new orders for long lasting manufactured goods including transportation items, was expected to increase 0.2% last month.
The orders fell 0.4% in September, standing at $261.3 billion.
"Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.5%. Excluding defense, new orders increased 0.8%," Census Bureau said in a statement.
Transportation equipment marked its third decline in the past four months, by falling $2 billion, or 2.6%, to $75.3 billion, it said.
