US fighter jet crashes in South Korea
Pilot ejected safely before crash into field during routine training sorties, no civilian damage or casualties, say reports

ANKARA (AA) - A US F-16 fighter jet crashed on Saturday near Osan Air Base in South Korea, local media said.
The pilot ejected safely from the aircraft and no civilian casualties were reported, according to the Yonhap News Agency.
The crash occurred in northwestern Pyeongtaek, some 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of the capital Seoul.
No homes were located near the field where the jet crashed and caught fire, leaving it mostly destroyed, the agency said, citing a local firefighting official who added that no damage to civilian structures had been reported.
Later, US forces in South Korea confirmed that the incident had taken place at about 9.45 a.m. local time (0045GMT). It added that the pilot, who was taking part in routine training sorties, was taken to a nearby medical facility after the crash.
