US initial jobless claims steady at 208,000
208,000 claims filed last week, less than estimates of 212,000

ISTANBUL (AA) - The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims was unchanged last week to remain steady at 208,000, according to Labor Department data released Thursday.
The figure was lower than market estimates of 212,000.
The previous week's reading was revised up by 1,000 from 207,000 to 208,000.
The four-week moving average was 210,000, a decrease of 3,500 from the previous week's revised average.
The US economy added 175,000 jobs in April, while the unemployment rate rose to 3.9% from 3.8% in March.
