WASHINGTON (AA) - A US judge on Tuesday temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's plan to freeze federal aid.
US District Judge Loren AliKhan ordered the Trump administration not to block funding for ongoing programs until Monday in a hearing at a Washington court, according to media reports.
A memo from the White House budget office, which called for a spending freeze on federal assistance by 5 p.m. (2200GMT) Tuesday, created widespread confusion across the government.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said the House Democratic Caucus will hold an emergency meeting Wednesday to discuss a comprehensive three-pronged counteroffensive anchored in an appropriations strategy, a litigation strategy, and a communications strategy.
