US lawmaker introduces resolution to censure Rep. Al Green for disrupting Trump's speech

WASHINGTON (AA) - Rep. Dan Newhouse on Wednesday introduced a resolution to censure Rep. Al Green for disrupting US President Donald Trump's speech Tuesday night.
Newhouse, a Republican, told the House floor that Green "disrupted the proceedings of the joint address and was a breach of proper conduct."
His remarks came a day after Green of Texas, a Democrat, was removed from the chamber after defiantly standing and shouting at Trump, telling him: "Mr. President, you don't have a mandate!"
Green told reporters at the Capitol that he was willing to accept whatever punishment he is met with, saying: "It's worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up" to Trump.
Newhouse said: "Therefore, be it resolved that Representative Al Green be censured."
The chair ruled that a question of the privileges of the House has immediate precedence only at a time designated by the chair within two legislative days after the resolution is properly noticed.
