US personal income rises 0.3% in December

Figure comes in line with market estimates, following gain of 0.4% in November

ISTANBUL (AA) - Americans' personal income rose 0.3% in December 2023, according to official figures released Friday.

Personal income climbed $60 billion from the previous month, according to data from the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The figure came in line with market estimates, while personal income in November showed a gain of 0.4%.

Disposable personal income, which is personal income minus personal current taxes, rose $51.8 billion, or 0.3%, in December, said the bureau.

"The increase in current-dollar personal income in December primarily reflected increases in compensation and personal interest income," it said in a statement.
