ISTANBUL (AA) - Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of US President Donald Trump, on Wednesday met with South Korean business leaders to discuss possible cooperation, Yonhap News reported citing local media.
Trump Jr. landed in Seoul late Tuesday, ahead of planned meetings with approximately 20 executives from leading South Korean conglomerates. This two-day visit is his first to South Korea since his father assumed the presidency in January.
He met with Kim Dong-kwan, the vice chairman of the South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group, and his two brothers to explore possible collaborations in shipbuilding, defense, and energy industries, according to Yonhap News.
Business leaders set to meet with Trump Jr. include CJ Group Chairman Lee Jae-hyun, Celltrion Chairman Seo Jung-jin, Naver founder Lee Hae-jin, and Lotte Senior Vice President Shin Yoo-yeol.
The trip comes amid the continuing trade talks between Seoul and Washington after the Trump administration slapped a 25% across-the-board tariff on South Korea that has been temporarily reduced to 10% for 90 days.
