US Rep. Barry Moore announces run for Senate in Alabama

WASHINGTON (AA) - US Republican congressman Barry Moore announced Tuesday that he is running for a Senate seat in the state of Alabama next year.

Moore wrote on American soical media company X that he is running for the seat because the people of Alabama “deserve a Trump conservative.”

"As the first elected official in the country to endorse President Trump, I will have his back and defend the MAGA agenda in the Senate, just like I have as a member of the Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives," he said.

The seat was vacated by Tommy Tuberville, who announced in late May that he is running for governor of Alabama in 2026.

Tuberville is the first Republican candidate to launch a campaign to succeed Gov. Kay Ivey, who is stepping down because of term limits.
