US senator says she is under investigation for military video

Elissa Slotkin says anyone who disagrees with Trump 'becomes an enemy, and he then weaponizes the federal government against them'

WASHINGTON (AA) - US Sen. Elissa Slotkin said Wednesday that she is the subject of a federal investigation related to a video in November, where she urged military personnel to refuse illegal orders.

"Last week, US Attorney from the District of Columbia, former Fox host Jeanine Pirro reached out asking to interview me because of a 90-second video that I filmed in November," Slotkin said in a video message.

She described it as the most recent act of intimidation by President Donald Trump’s administration, after an FBI counterterrorism division inquiry she received late last year.

Trump, in a series of posts on his Truth Social platform in November, called for the execution of six Democratic lawmakers – Sens. Slotkin and Mark Kelly, as well as Reps. Jason Crow, Chrissy Houlahan, Maggie Goodlander and Chris Deluzio -- after they released a video urging US service members and intelligence personnel to disobey orders that would violate the law.

“To be clear, this is the president’s playbook,” Slotkin said Wednesday.

“Truth doesn’t matter. Facts don’t matter, and anyone who disagrees with him becomes an enemy, and he then weaponizes the federal government against them. It’s legal intimidation and physical intimidation meant to get you to shut up.”

Kelly filed a lawsuit Monday against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, challenging a letter of censure and demotion for the Arizona Democrat's public criticism of military operations.
