US stock exchanges open Thursday mixed

Euro rises 0.33% to $1.0570 against US dollar

ISTANBUL (AA) - Major stock exchanges in the US opened mixed on Thursday.

The Dow Jones was down 33 points, or 0.1%, to 33,631 at 10.14 am EDT.

The S&P 500, on the other hand, rose seven points, or 0.17%, to 4,322. The Nasdaq added 54 points, or 0.41%, to 13,370.

The VIX volatility index was flat at 19.22, while the 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.86% to 4.946%.

The dollar index shed 0.2% to 106.35 while the euro rose 0.33% to $1.0570 against the greenback.

Precious metals were also mixed, with gold adding 0.22% to $1,952 an ounce, but silver trimming 0.36% to $22.77.

Oil prices were down around 0.7%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $90.72 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $86.68.
