US stock market opens flat, dollar on rise

Dollar index climbs above critical level once again by rising 0.2%

ANKARA (AA) - Major indexes in the US stock market opened flat on Wednesday, while the US dollar index was on the rise.

The Dow Jones rose 11 points to 34,587 at 9.43 a.m. EDT (1343GMT). The S&P 500 could only add 2 points to 4,203.

The Nasdaq increased 17 points, or 0.1%, to 13,753 with AMC Entertainment and Blackberry soaring another 21% and 10%, respectively.

The VIX volatility index was down 0.8% to 17.75. The yield on the 10-year US Treasury also fell 1.5% to 1.591%.

The dollar index, which shows the strength of the greenback against a basket of six other major currencies, however, climbed above the critical psychological level of 90 once again, rising 0.2% to 90.05.

Bitcoin increased around 1% to trade above $37,500.

Gold has resumed its rally by adding 0.4% to $1,908 per ounce, and silver added 0.5% to break the critical resistance level of $28 an ounce.
