US stock market opens Friday lower
Gold rises 0.8% to $1,911 per ounce

ISTANBUL (AA) - Major exchanges in the US stock market opened lower on Friday.
The Dow Jones fell 22 points, or 0.08%, to 34,167 at 10.17 a.m. EDT (1517GMT), while the S&P 500 was down 11 points, or 0.3%, to 3,971.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq decreased 23 points, or 0.22%, to 10,979.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was down 2.4% to 18.38. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.2% to 3.454%.
The dollar index added 0.06% to 102.30, while the euro fell 0.16% to $1.0829 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the rise, with gold rising 0.8% to $1,911 per ounce and silver increasing 1.2% to $24.06.
Crude oil prices were in positive territory, with global benchmark Brent crude up 0.6% to $84.68 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $79.03 -- a 0.8% daily gain.
