US stock market opens higher
Crude prices gain almost 0.5 percent

NEW YORK (AA) - The U.S. stock market opened higher Tuesday with rising crude oil prices.
The Dow added 42 points to open at 20,948 and the S&P rose six points to 2,379.
The Nasdaq increased 21 points to begin trading at 5,922.
At the first bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was trading at $49.15 per barrel with a 0.4 percent gain, and international benchmark Brent crude was at $51.76 with a 0.3 percent increase.
