US stock market opens higher

NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened higher on Monday as major American tech companies saw gains in their shares.

The Dow rose 75 points to begin the day at 20,528 points and the S&P 500 added 6 points to reach 2,335 points.

The Nasdaq increased 31 points to start the first trading day of the new week at 5,827 points.

At the first bell, American tech giants Google and Apple saw their shares rise 0.6 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively. Microsoft stock price gained 0.6 percent.
