US stock market opens higher

NEW YORK (AA) - The U.S. stock market opened higher Monday with a rise in crude oil prices.

The Dow added 68 points to begin the day at 20,873 points and the S&P 500 rose six points to 2,388 points.

The Nasdaq increased 19 points to open the first trading day of the week at 6,102 points.

At the first bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was trading at $51.08 a barrel with a 0.7 percent increase. International benchmark Brent crude was at $53.96 per barrel -- a 0.6 percent gain.
