US stock markets end mixed

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks ended with gains Monday except for the Dow.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average posted a decline of 128.65 points or 0.29% during the day, finishing at 44,782.

The S&P 500 added 14.77 points, or 0.24%, to reach 6,047.15. The Nasdaq increased 185.78 points, or 0.97%, to end at 19,403.95.

The VIX volatility index, referred to as the "fear index," fell 1.26% to 13.34.

Precious metals were in red territory. Gold lost 0.71% to around $2,661.90 per ounce and silver fell by 0.3% to $30.50 as of 2210GMT.

Oil prices decreased around 0.69%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $71.90 a barrel.
