US stocks close with gains

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks closed with gains on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 170 points, or 0.45%, to 37,695 at the final bell. The S&P 500 rose 26 points, or 0.57%, to 4,783.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq jumped 111 points, or 0.75%, to 14,969.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was down 0.55% to 12.69. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.33% to 4.030%.

The dollar index decreased 0.2% to 102.36, while the euro rose 0.01% to $1.0972 against the greenback.

Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold decreasing 0.3% to $2,024 per ounce and silver trimming 0.3% to $22.90.

Oil prices were mixed, with global benchmark Brent crude adding 0.03% to $76.81 per barrel, but US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude falling 1.3% to $71.31 a barrel.
