ISTANBUL (AA) - Stocks closed higher on the second trading day of the week in the US as investors seemed to move past the recent US intervention Venezuela.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.99%, or 484.9 points, closing Tuesday at an all-time high of 49,462.08.

The Nasdaq increased 0.65%, or 151.35 points, to 23,547.17, while the S&P 500 added 0.62%, or 42.76 points, to 6,944.81.

The Volatility Index (VIX), also known as the "fear index," fell 1.01% to 14.75.

Stock markets continued their upward trend for the second day, following the US' weekend operation in Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolas Maduro and first lady Cilia Flores.

President Donald Trump said on Sunday that major US oil companies would be brought in to rebuild Venezuela’s infrastructure, saying they would invest billions of dollars without US government funding.

"The big oil companies (are) going to go in and they’re going to fix the infrastructure. They’re going to invest money. We’re not going to invest anything. We’re going to just take care of the country," he said.

However, oil giant Chevron's stock fell more than 4% on Tuesday, losing much of its Monday gains of around 5%. Still, it remains up by more than 3% over a week ago.

Amazon, one of the "Magnificent Seven," raised the three main indexes by more than 3%. Other AI-related stocks, such as Micron Technology and Palantir Technologies, also helped the overall market. Palantir increased more than 3%, while Micron gained around 10%.

Ford shares climbed more than 2.5% Tuesday after the automaker's sales in the US reached their highest level in six years.

Tesla stock fell over 4.1%, following Nvidia's announcement of new open-source AI models for autonomous driving.
