US stocks mixed after ending 5-week winning streak
Precious metals continue to see losses; oil prices up around 1%

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks were mixed Tuesday after ending a winning streak of five weekly gains Monday.
The Dow Jones was down 160 points, or 0.44%, to 36,040 at 9.59 a.m. EDT. The S&P 500 lost 12 points, or 0.28%, to 4,559.
The Nasdaq, on the other hand, rose 34 points, or 0.26%, to 14,219.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was up 1.8 % to 13.31. The 10-year US Treasury yield dove 2.8% to 4.169%.
The dollar index increased 0.15% to 103.87, while the euro trimmed 0.1% to $1.0830 against the greenback.
Despite a rally in recent weeks, precious metals continued to see losses, with gold trimming 0.3% to $2,022 per ounce and silver decreasing 0.7% to $24.36.
Oil prices were up around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $78.95 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $73.99.
