US to label violence against Tesla dealerships domestic terrorism: Trump

ISTANBUL (AA) – US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that violence against Tesla dealerships will be labeled an act of domestic terrorism as he vowed severe consequences for perpetrators.

Speaking alongside Tesla CEO Elon Musk at the White House, Trump emphasized his support for the electric vehicle manufacturer, calling Tesla a “great product” and personally selecting a red Tesla Model S from a fleet parked at the White House. He said he hopes his move would boost Tesla sales.

"If you do it to Tesla ... to any other company, we are going to catch you, you are going to go through hell," Trump said, addressing recent attacks on Tesla facilities linked to a backlash against Musk’s political involvement.

Musk, who confirmed plans to remain Tesla’s CEO, announced that the company would double its US vehicle output in the next two years.

The event at the White House boosted Tesla’s shares, offering a reprieve amid declining sales and stock value because of vandalism and criticism of Musk’s role in the Trump administration.

Tesla has faced a wave of attacks at its dealerships and facilities, driven by dissatisfaction with Musk’s political activities, including his leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) which seeks to cut the federal workforce and programs.

The vandalism has caused significant financial losses, prompting Trump’s strong stance and public show of support for the company.
