US: Trump calls for extrajudicial deportation process

American president says due process is 'not the way to go'

By Michael Hernandez

WASHINGTON (AA) - President Donald Trump said Monday that ensuring individuals accused of entering the U.S. illegally are given due process is an ultimately futile waste of resources.

"Hiring manythousands [sic] of judges, and going through a long and complicated legal process, is not the way to go - will always be disfunctional [sic]," Trump said on Twitter. "People must simply be stopped at the Border and told they cannot come into the U.S. illegally. Children brought back to their country."

Trump said doing so would halt illegal immigration at comparatively little cost

"This is the only real answer - and we must continue to BUILD THE WALL!" Trump added.

Trump initially stirred mass outrage at his plan after he first made it public in a series of tweets Sunday, arguing that undocumented individuals seeking to "invade" and " break into" the U.S. should be deported "with no Judges or Court Cases."

The American Civil Liberties Union slammed the proposal as "both illegal and unconstitutional," while calling on government officials who have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution to "disavow it unequivocally."

Trump further criticized a Virginia restaurant that denied service to his spokeswoman over the weekend amid widespread outrage over the Trump administration's immigration policies and her role in defending them.

"The Red Hen Restaurant should focus more on cleaning its filthy canopies, doors and windows (badly needs a paint job) rather than refusing to serve a fine person like Sarah Huckabee Sanders," Trump said.

Sanders was denied service Friday evening, and the restaurant's Yelp online page had become a battleground for pro and anti-Trump partisans to hash out their views on the restaurant's action.

Yelp has since locked the page for "active cleanup," saying in a brief message that it is working "to remove both positive and negative posts that appear to be motivated more by the news coverage itself than the reviewer’s personal consumer experience."
