US Central Command destroys 4 UAVs, surface-to-air missile in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen

SANAA, Yemen (AA) – US and British warplanes launched fresh airstrikes against Houthi sites in Yemen on Thursday amid a growing tension in the Red Sea.
The Houthi-run Al-Masirah television said four strikes targeted Al-Jah area in the coastal city of Al Hudaydah.
No reports were yet available about casualties or damage.
There was no comment yet from the US on the report.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said early Thursday that it had destroyed four unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) and one surface-to-air missile in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
The Houthis have been targeting cargo ships in the Red Sea owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel in solidarity with Gaza, which has been under an Israeli onslaught since Oct. 7.
With tensions escalating due to the US and UK conducting joint airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, the group declared all American and British ships to be legitimate military targets.
A coalition led by the US - under the name Operation Prosperity Guardian - has conducted intermittent airstrikes since Jan. 12 that have targeted "Houthi locations" in parts of Yemen in response to the attacks in the Red Sea.
The Red Sea is one of the world's most frequently used sea routes for oil and fuel shipments.
