Virus cases, casualties rise in Eurasia, Central Asia
Moldova, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan report new coronavirus cases

CHISINAU, Moldova (AA) - More coronavirus cases and fatalities were reported in several Eurasian and Central Asian countries on Wednesday.
- Moldova
The nationwide death toll stands at 1,159 with no more fatalities reported over the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
Another 627 infections were reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 44,361, while a total of 32,732 people have recovered from the virus, it added.
- Belarus
The case-count in Belarus reached 74,763 with 211 cases over the past day.
The death toll has reached 767, with six more fatalities.
A total of 72,810 patients have so far recovered in the country.
There are 1,186 patients still under treatment.
- Uzbekistan
As many as 239 new virus cases brought Uzbekistan's tally to 49,015.
Two more fatalities took the death toll to 407, while recoveries rose to 45,422, according to the Health Ministry.
Some 3,186 patients are still receiving treatment.
- Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan reported 141 more infections, bringing the total to 38,658, including 569 fatalities and 36,149 recoveries.
Health staff in the country have so far conducted 1.27 million tests.
- Tajikistan
Tajikistan reported 42 more cases of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 9,171, including 73 deaths.
A total of 7,941 patients have recovered so far, while 1,157 remain under treatment.
- Worldwide
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed more than 936,300 lives in 188 countries and regions since it originated in China last December. The US, India and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.
Over 29.62 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 20.12 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
