Death toll from coronavirus in Iraq rises to 3,250, surpasses 2,240 in Saudi Arabia
ISTANBUL (AA) - Health authorities in Iraq and Saudi Arabia confirmed more fatalities and infections due to the novel coronavirus on Monday.
The Iraqi Health Ministry said 100 people died from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the nationwide death toll to 3,250.
The virus has also sickened 2,229 more people, bringing the total infections to 79,735, including 46,998 recoveries.
In Saudi Arabia, the Health Ministry recorded 20 more deaths and 2,852 new cases over the past day.
The kingdom’s count now stands at 2,243 deaths and 235,111 infections and 169,842 recoveries.
Since originating in China last December, the pandemic has claimed over 569,800 lives in 188 countries and regions.
More than 12.94 million cases have been reported worldwide, while over 7.14 million patients have recovered so far, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
