Vodafone Turkey sees surge in revenue

Mobile operator announces 4 billion Turkish liras ($1.2 billion) in services revenue

ANKARA (AA) – Vodafone Turkey posted on Tuesday a 17.5 percent increase in revenue from services for the first half of its 2016-2017 fiscal year -- between April and September -- compared to the same period of last year.

Vodafone Turkey, which has maintained growth at double-digit levels for the last seven years, raised its revenue from services to four billion Turkish liras ($1.2 billion) from April to September, a company statement read.

The mobile operator's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) advanced by 30 percent to hit their highest half-term record of 1.1 billion liras ($335.7 million) in the same period on a year-on-year basis, according to Vodafone.

The number of Vodafone Turkey customers increased to an historic high this year of 22.6 million from 21.6 million in the same period last year.

Revenue from data soared by 50 percent year-on-year between April and September 2016 thanks to the introduction of 4.5G this April.
