Wholesale prices in Germany up 1.2% in January
Wholesale of non-ferrous ores, non-ferrous metals, and semi-finished products made from them soar 43.8% year-on-year, leading increase in total prices in January

ISTANBUL (AA) - Germany's wholesale prices rose 1.2% on a yearly basis in January, the country's federal statistical office statement said on Friday.
The figure came after 1.2% and 1.5% increases in December and November 2025, according to Destatis data.
The main reason for the year-on-year rise in wholesale prices in January were higher prices in the non-ferrous ores, non-ferrous metals, and semi-finished products made from them, with prices surging 43.8% from January 2025.
The price increase in wholesale trade for food, beverages, and tobacco products, also had an upward effect in January, with a 1.6% rise.
The prices of sugar, confectionery, and baked goods, in particular, cost considerably more than in the same month of the previous year (+12.5%).
Coffee, tea, cocoa, and spices were 4.1% more expensive at the wholesale level, and meat and meat products prices rose 4%.
By contrast, prices in the wholesale trade of cereals, raw tobacco, seeds and animal feed decreased 8.2% year-on-year in January, and milk, dairy products, eggs, edible oils and edible fats prices fell 5.7%.
There were also lower prices in the wholesale of petroleum products, down 4.8% on an annual basis in January.
On a monthly basis, the wholesale prices increased by 0.9% in January, following a 0.2% decline in the previous month, and exceeding expectations.
