DHAKA, Bangladesh (AA) – The Bangladesh government and the World Bank on Thursday signed five financing agreements to improve human development, primary health and climate resilience, in the South Asian nation.

The financing was meant for five separate projects worth $1.11 billion and over 11 million people of different groups, age and gender, according to a statement by the lender's Dhaka office.

The financing will help Bangladesh achieve resilient and inclusive growth by improving early childhood development, secondary education, riverbank protection and navigability, urban primary health, and gas distribution efficiency, according to the statement.

“These projects will help preparing our children for a brighter future while improving resiliency to climate change,” said Abdoulaye Seck, the World Bank country director for Bangladesh and Bhutan.
