World Central Kitchen resumes work in Gaza
Food charity serves 200,000 meals to displaced Palestinians in besieged Gaza Strip
By Diyar Guldogan
WASHINGTON (AA) – The international food charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) resumed its operations in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday after seven of its aid workers were killed in an Israeli strike earlier this month.
"WCK served 200,000 meals to displaced Palestinians today as we resumed work in Gaza," it said on X.
The charity has provided more than 43 million meals in Gaza to date, it said, adding "276 WCK trucks are ready to enter through Rafah with enough food for 8 million meals. We’re also sending trucks north."
The Israeli April 1 attack in Gaza killed seven WCK aid workers – three British nationals, an Australian, a Polish national, a US-Canadian dual citizen and a Palestinian.
It has triggered strong condemnation around the globe and calls for accountability, with many, including WCK founder Jose Andres, disputing Israel’s claim that the attack was a “mistake” and a case of “misidentification.”
