ISTANBUL (AA) - A international gastroenterology congress gathering thousands of people from all around the world ended in Istanbul on Tuesday.
The World Congress of Gastroenterology 2019 (WCOG 2019) was held at the Istanbul Congress Center with the participation of over 2,000 people from 95 countries, according to Serhat Bor, the head of the Turkish Society of Gastroenterology.
The congress -- co-organized by the Turkish Society of Gastroenterology and the World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO) -- was held in Turkey for the first time between Sept. 21-24.
Bor had stressed the importance of the WCOG in one of his earlier speeches saying that it was the only world congress to take place in Turkey this year.
The WCOG is held biannually and was hosted by the U.S. and China in previous years.
Over 30 symposiums and special events were held during the Istanbul congress.
