World steel output decreases to 142.7M tons in February
Figure down by 5.7% from 2021, worldsteel data shows

ANKARA (AA) - Global crude steel output amounted to 142.7 million tons in February after posting an annual decline for eight straight months, the World Steel Association (worldsteel) said Tuesday.
The figure fell 5.7% from the same month in 2021, worldsteel data showed.
Top steel producer China saw a year-on-year drop of 10% in the February reading which hit 75 million tons.
Other major steel-producing countries posted mixed figures as India produced 10.1 million tons, up 7.6%; Japan 7.3 million tons, down 2.3%, and the US 6.4 million tons, up 1.4%.
Turkey, the world's eighth-largest crude steel maker, registered a 3.3% decrease in output, reaching 3 million tons in February.
The World Steel Association is a prominent industry group, with its members representing around 85% of global steel production with more than 160 steel producers.
