Yemen's Houthis say half of Israeli navigation disrupted after attacks

Houthi leader says Israeli navigation in Red Sea ‘almost paralyzed’

By Anadolu staff

SANAA, Yemen (AA) - Houthi attacks have disrupted half of the Israeli navigation, the Yemeni group said on Sunday.

“Our naval operations had an impact on the Israeli, US and British economies," Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said in a televised speech.

“Israeli navigation was disrupted by nearly half, and in the Red Sea, it was almost paralyzed,” he added.

There has been no comment from Israel, the US or the UK on the Houthi claim.

The Houthis have been targeting cargo ships in the Red Sea owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, where more than 38,100 people have been killed in a deadly Israeli offensive since last October following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas.

With tensions escalating due to US-UK airstrikes against Houthi sites in Yemen, the group declared that it considered all American and British ships to be legitimate military targets.

The Red Sea is one of the world's most frequently used shipping lanes for oil and fuel shipments.
