LONDON - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday arrived in the UK to participate in the fourth European Political Community Summit, where leaders from across the European area will gather to discuss pressing common issues and challenges.
Zelenskyy’s visit is highlighted by a packed agenda, including a series of high-level bilateral meetings with key partners and the signing of significant new security agreements.
As part of a focused program to bolster Ukraine-UK relations, Zelenskyy will meet King Charles and Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
He is also set to engage with senior government officials and top executives from defense companies.
A major highlight of Zelenskyy’s visit will be the signing of an intergovernmental agreement aimed at supporting Ukraine's defense and industrial complex.
In his remarks on X, Zelenskyy underscored the role the UK has played since Russia's war on Ukraine in February 2022.
"Since the first days of the full-scale invasion, the UK has been one step ahead in its determination to support Ukraine. This is the kind of resolve we need to stop Russian terror," Zelenskyy said, expressing gratitude for the UK's steadfast support.
The EPC commenced its fourth summit in the UK on Thursday, bringing leaders from around 45 European countries to Blenheim Palace.
The summit agenda includes critical discussions about Ukraine, energy, democracy protection and irregular migration.
Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, is approximately 100 km (62 miles) from London and serves as the historic venue for the gathering.
Premier Starmer is hosting his first international meeting since taking office on July 6, and will meet French President Emmanuel Macron and Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris on the sidelines of the summit.
King Charles will also participate by hosting a reception for the summit attendees.
