ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with European Investment Bank President Nadia Calvino, welcoming her first visit to the capital Kyiv.
In a Telegram post on Monday, Zelenskyy thanked the bank for its continued support since the start of the Moscow-Kyiv war in February 2022, praising the bank’s role in funding key humanitarian projects.
Calvino said on X that supporting Ukraine is "about supporting Europe’s democratic values."
The talks covered support for Ukraine’s energy sector and funding for new projects, including building shelters in schools and kindergartens, as well as improving border crossings.
Zelenskyy also discussed aid for people displaced by the war. He said the bank's contributions remain essential in helping Ukrainians who lost their homes.
He responded to questions about US President Donald Trump’s remarks on possible progress in ending the war. Zelenskyy said Ukraine is focusing on real cooperation, not speculation.
Zelenskyy confirmed the upcoming meetings with Trump’s team before the Munich Security Conference.
He said Ukraine’s priority is to keep its international partners united in supporting its defense, adding that Kyiv will continue working with its partners to secure aid and strengthen its defenses.
