Arsenal top English Premier League, Bayer Leverkusen regain lead in Germany
Gunners win at Brentford 1-0, Leverkusen beat Werder Bremen 3-0 on Saturday

A late winner by Kai Havertz has sent Arsenal to the English Premier League's top position; meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen regained the leading spot last weekend in the German Bundesliga.
Arsenal won at Brentford 1-0 on Saturday as German attacking midfielder Havertz scored the winning goal in the 89th minute. Bukayo Saka whipped the cross from the right flank to find Havertz in the far post, and Havertz scored a header to bring three points to the London club.
Following the Manchester City vs. Liverpool showdown that ended 1-1 at Etihad Stadium, the narrow win at Brentford made the Gunners the Premier League's new leaders.
Arsenal have 30 points in 13 matches. Manchester City are second with 29 points. Liverpool have 28 points to be third.
Aston Villa have moved into the league's top four after coming from behind to win 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in London on Sunday.
Fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur have 26 points to be two points behind Aston Villa.
On Sunday, Manchester United beat Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park as Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho scored a spectacular overhead kick.
Man Utd have 24 points to reach the sixth place. Everton is 19th in the league's relegation zone.
- Bayer Leverkusen win at Werder Bremen to lead in Germany
Unbeaten Leverkusen won against Werder Bremen 3-0 in a Saturday German Bundesliga match to regain the top place in the division.
Olivier Deman scored an own goal in the match at Bremen's wohninvest WESERSTADION. Jeremie Frimpong and Alejandro Grimaldo put the ball into the net for Leverkusen as the visitors secured the win.
Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen are in a dream season. They have 34 points in 12 matches.
On Friday, Bayern Munich won at Cologne 1-0 as the Bavarians' prolific forward Harry Kane scored the winner in the first half.
Bayern Munich, another unbeaten club in the 2023-24 Bundesliga campaign, are in second place with 32 points and seeking a mistake of the leaders.
Stuttgart took a 2-1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt to be third with 27 points.
Borussia Dortmund beat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-2 on Saturday at home to be fourth with 24 points.
- Inter settle for a draw at Juventus
Inter Milan are leading the Italian Serie A despite a 1-1 away draw with runners-up Juventus on Sunday.
Dusan Vlahovic scored the opener for Juventus in Turin, but Inter leveled in the 33rd minute. Argentine star Lautaro Martinez was on the score sheet.
Inter stayed on top with 32 points while Juventus kept up the chase with 30 points in second position.
AC Milan are third with 26 points following a 1-0 win over Fiorentina at home on Saturday.
Napoli are now in the fourth spot in the Serie A as the defending champions beat Atalanta 2-1 on Saturday.
The Naples club have 24 points to challenge AC Milan.
- PSG thrash Monaco 5-2 in France
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) cemented their lead in the French Ligue 1 after a 5-2 win against third-place Monaco on Friday.
Goncalo Ramos, Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha and Randal Kolo Muani scored for Paris at Parc des Princes.
Japanese forward Takumi Minamino and US forward Folarin Balogun were the scorers for Monaco.
PSG have 30 points, leading the league.
Monaco have 24 to be five points behind second-place Nice.
Nice, a club from the south of France, won against Toulouse 1-0 on Sunday to stay in the second spot.
- Real Madrid beat Cadiz to return to summit, Bellingham scores again
A 3-0 victory at Cadiz has sent Real Madrid to the top of the Spanish La Liga table on Sunday.
Real Madrid's English star Jude Bellingham was among the scorers again as the 20-year-old midfielder beat Cadiz's goalkeeper Conan Ledesma in the area in the second half.
Joined from Germany's Borussia Dortmund in July, Bellingham scored his 11th La Liga goal this season.
Before Bellingham's goal, which named the result, Rodrygo scored twice for the Whites.
Returning to the league's summit, Real Madrid increased their points to 35 in 14 matches.
Second-place Girona, who have a game in hand, have 34 points in the league before their home game against Athletic Bilbao late Monday.
üThird-place Atletico Madrid and fourth-place Barcelona have 31 points each in La Liga.
Atletico Madrid beat Mallorca 1-0 on Saturday, while Barcelona drew with Rayo Vallecano 1-1 in Madrid on the same day.
