Bayern Munich top Bundesliga with Leverkusen win

ANKARA (AA) - Polish football star Robert Lewandowski scored two goals against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday to bring a 2-1 win to his team as Bayern Munich topped the German Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen led the match in their home BayArena as Patrik Schick scored with a left foot volley in the 14th minute.

Visitors' star Lewandowski pulled the level with a header near the end of the first half, 1-1.

In the 93rd minute, Lewandowski scored the winning goal, getting past Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky.

With a goal in the nick of time, Bayern Munich captured a 2-1 win in the away match.

Bayern Munich has racked up 30 points in 13 matches to lead the league.

Bayer Leverkusen were the leaders before the match, and now have 28 points to take the number two spot.

Third-place RB Leipzig bagged 28 points as well.

Schalke 04, a key club in Germany, have faced a turbulent season as the Gelsenkirchen team lost to Arminia Bielefeld 1-0 at their home ground Veltins Arena.

Arminia Bielefeld forward Fabian Klos scored a second-half goal to sink Schalke.

Schalke are in the number 18 spot with 4 points. In 13 weeks of the Bundesliga, they have not earned any wins. Schalke scored 8 goals but conceded 36.

Following the win, Arminia Bielefeld are in the number 16 spot with 10 points.
