Botafogo shock Paris Saint-Germain with narrow win at FIFA Club World Cup

Botafogo, having won both of their matches, sit comfortably at top of Group B

ISTANBUL (AA) - Botafogo edged past UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain with a 1-0 victory in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup on Friday.

In the match at Rose Bowl Stadium in California, Brazilian side Botafogo claimed a 1-0 victory over French giants PSG, thanks to a 36th-minute goal from Igor Jesus.

In the other Group B match, Spain's Atletico Madrid faced the US side Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field Stadium in Seattle.

Atletico secured a 3-1 victory with goals from Pablo Barrios in the 11th and 55th minutes and Axel Witsel in the 47th minute.

Seattle's lone goal came from Albert Rusnak in the 50th minute.

Botafogo, having won both of their matches in Group B, sit at the top of the standings.

Paris Saint-Germain currently have three points, putting them in second place, while Atletico Madrid are in third place.

The Seattle Sounders remain at the bottom of the group with no points.
