ANKARA (AA) - Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin was discharged from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Monday, a week after he collapsed on the field during an NFL game.
"We are thrilled and proud to share that Damar Hamlin has been released from the hospital and returned to Buffalo," NFL franchise Bills said on Twitter.
The Bills said that Hamlin, 24, is "doing well," adding that the player has flown to Buffalo from Cincinnati to continue his recovery in a different hospital.
One of his physicians, Dr. William Knight IV, said Hamlin "walked his first lap around the hospital on Friday and he's on a normal to accelerated trajectory."
Last Monday, Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed after making a tackle during an NFL match between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hamlin was given CPR on the field before being rushed to the hospital. The game was first postponed and then canceled by the NFL.
After being admitted to intensive care, he woke up last week to communicate with doctors and move both his hands and feet.
Hamlin has been playing for the Bills, based in western New York state, since 2021.
