Christian Eriksen trains with Ajax youth team

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ajax confirmed on Tuesday that Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen is training with their youth team.

"The Dane was given the green light by his doctors in December to resume his football career after completing months of individual recovery," Ajax said in a statement.

The Dutch side added that Eriksen would work to keep his fitness levels until he finds a new club.

Eriksen has been without a contract since his deal at Inter Milan was terminated last month due to medical issues related to cardiac arrest he suffered during a EURO 2020 Group B match against Finland in June.

He was rushed to a Danish hospital after urgent medical interventions on the pitch.

The 29-year-old underwent successful surgery and was discharged on June 18.

The midfielder, who is currently a free agent, did not play for Inter Milan and his native Denmark for several months.

Eriksen was a three-time Dutch champion with Ajax Amsterdam.

He helped Inter win the 2021 Italian Serie A title and had 60 appearances, scoring eight goals for the Italian side.

The Dutch star netted 36 goals in 109 international caps for the Danish national team since his debut in 2010.
