Copenhagen police arrest scores of pro-Palestinian activists on charges of 'disturbing' peace
Palestine Youth Movement activists protest in front of Maersk building, blaming shipping and logistics company for directly facilitating and profiting from arms transporter to Israel

PRAGUE (AA) – Copenhagen police on Friday arrested scores of pro-Palestinian activists in front of Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk’s building in the Esplanade area on charges of disturbing the peace of the house, the state-run media outlet said.
Copenhagen Police Watch Commander Martin Kajberg told Ritzau that police have filed charges against the pro-Palestine demonstrators for violating the peace of the house.
The Penal Code's provision on violation of the peace is used when someone trespasses on private land without permission. The law enforcement authorities have not yet confirmed the number of arrests from the protest site.
The Palestine Youth Movement, a pro-Palestine collective in Copenhagen, said Maersk is directly facilitating and profiting from the weapons trade through its key logistics role as a global arms transporter. It demands that Maersk cut ties with Israel and stop supporting the Palestinian genocide.
Earlier in June, 27 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested for blocking the entrance to the Danish Parliament - Christiansborg Palace.
Demonstrators sat in front of the entrance to protest the Danish government's military assistance to Israel. The protest followed Defense Minister Toels Lund Poulsen's confirmation that Denmark sent F35 aircraft spare parts to Israel in March at the request of the US.
