Mega cricket tournament to start in India in October

The International Cricket Council (ICC) men's one-day international World Cup trophy arrived in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on a two-day tour on Thursday, as part of its worldwide tour ahead of the tournament that will start in October.
The trophy will visit different venues around Kabul where cricket fans will be able to get a first-hand look at the iconic silverware, a spokesman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a statement.
Before arriving in Afghanistan, the trophy that began its tour from India, the host of the mega event, on June 27 traveled to Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the US, West Indies, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Bahrain, Italy, France and England.
Ten teams will be contesting for the trophy from Oct. 5 to Nov. 19, with England defending the title.
This will be the 13th edition of the men’s cricket World Cup, and the first completely hosted by India.
Cricket-frenzy Afghanistan had become an affiliate member of the ICC in 2001, whereas, it attained one-day status in 2009 and Test status in 2017.
Currently, there are 12 permanent members of the global cricket governing body.
