'Such acts encourage genocide in Gaza,' says Cuba's foreign minister

BOGOTA, Colombia (AA) - The Cuban and Venezuelan governments condemned on Saturday airstrikes carried out by the US and British warplanes on Yemen.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed condemnation for the attacks on X.
"We condemn military attacks by the US & NATO allies in Yemen in violation of International Law. Such acts encourage genocide in Gaza," he wrote.
"We reiterate our call for an immediate cease-fire in the Palestinian enclave," he added.
A statement from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks. It said it firmly rejects the illegal bombings that violate international law and only contribute to further instability in the region.
After Houthi actions against commercial vessels in response to Israeli attacks on Gaza, shipping companies suspended Red Sea operations.
Concerns about a "supply chain crisis" grew due to Houthi attacks risking transit through the Suez Canal, a vital route for global trade.
The Pentagon discussed establishing an international Maritime Task Force and announced the Guardian of Prosperity Operation on Dec. 18 in response to Houthi attacks on Red Sea commercial vessels.
