ANKARA (AA) - Damar Hamlin was released from a Buffalo New York hospital Wednesday, nine days after suffering cardiac arrest during an NFL game.
"Damar Hamlin has been discharged from Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute, a Kaleida Health facility in Buffalo, NY," the Buffalo Bills wrote on Twitter.
Hamlin, 24, left the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Monday, where he was previously treated.
On Tuesday in Buffalo, he underwent a "comprehensive medical evaluation" including heart, neurological and vascular tests.
Critical care physician at Kaleida Health, Jamie Nadler, said doctors have completed several tests and evaluations and talked to the Bills’ physicians to allow Hamlin to leave the hospital.
"We are confident that Damar can be safely discharged to continue his rehabilitation at home and with the Bills," said Nadler.
Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest last Monday and collapsed after making a tackle during an NFL game with the Cincinnati Bengals.
He was given CPR on the field before being rushed to a hospital. The game was postponed and then canceled by the NFL.
After being admitted to intensive care, he woke up last, communicated with doctors and moved his hands and feet.
Hamlin has been playing for the Bills, based in western New York state, since 2021.
