Brighton & Hove Albion signed Turkish full-back Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce on Tuesday, the English Premier League club confirmed.
"We are pleased to confirm the signing of Turkish international full-back Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce, for undisclosed terms.
"Ferdi has agreed a four-year contract with Albion until June 2028, subject to international clearance and a successful work permit application," Brighton said in a statement.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler said he is "very excited" to sign Kadioglu, as the 24-year-old is "an excellent player and a great character."
"He has great ability, is a strong runner and very good at passing," Hurzeler said.
“He is predominantly a full-back and can play on the right or left side; he can also play in the center of midfield," the Brighton boss added.
Fenerbahce said on Türkiye's Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that Brighton will pay a €30 million ($33.5 million) transfer fee to purchase the player, and the English club will also pay a €5 million bonus depending on Kadioglu's performance at his new team.
The deal between the clubs also includes a percentage of the next sale clause, which was named at 10%, Fenerbahce added.
Dutch-born Kadioglu started his career at the Netherlands' NEC Nijmegen before moving to Fenerbahce in 2018, where he became a fan favorite.
He scored 18 goals and made 22 assists in 204 appearances for Fenerbahce.
Kadioglu amassed 20 international caps for Türkiye as he recently played at the EURO 2024 from June-July.
Türkiye reached the EURO 2024 quarterfinals in Germany as they were eliminated by the Netherlands 2-1 in the last eight that Kadioglu played.
