ANKARA (AA) - Roman Abramovich on Saturday was disqualified as director of Chelsea by the English Premier League Board, according to the official statement on the website.
The board stated that they followed the imposition of sanctions by the UK government.
The decision does not impact the club’s ability to train and play its fixtures, as set out under the terms of a license issued by the government which expires on 31 May 2022, the board added.
Chelsea was previously given a special license Thursday -- after the government announced a full asset freeze and travel ban on seven Russian oligarchs, including Abramovich, for Moscow’s war on Ukraine -- to continue football-related activities by the British government.
