Everton hire Sean Dyche as manager after Frank Lampard sacked

ANKARA (AA) – English Premier League club Everton on Monday hired Sean Dyche as the senior team head coach.

"Dyche has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2025 and will take charge for the first time for the Blues' Premier League clash against Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday 4 February," Everton said in a statement.

Dyche, 51, was appointed a week after the dismissal of Frank Lampard.

Everton previously sacked Lampard after the team lost to West Ham United in the Premier League.

"It's an honour to become Everton manager. My staff and I are ready and eager to help get this great club back on track," Dyche said, and adding that they are "ready to work."

"... That starts with sweat on the shirt, effort and getting back to some of the basic principles of what Everton Football Club has stood for for a long time," he added.

Everton have 15 points in 20 matches to be in the Premier League's relegation zone.

Dyche was the Burnley manager in 2012-2022, guiding the team to be promoted to the Premier League twice.

In the Dyche era, Burnley in 2018 reached European qualifiers for the first time in 51 years, and Olympiacos from Greece beat Burnley 4-2 on aggregate in the UEFA Europa League playoffs.
