ANKARA (AA) - Former cricketer Azeem Rafiq apologized on Thursday over anti-Semitic messages in 2011.
On Twitter, Rafiq, 30, said that he is "incredibly angry" at himself, apologizing to the Jewish community.
Rafiq noted that he was 19 when he shared the messages, adding: "[I] believe I am a different person today."
"I am ashamed of this exchange and have now deleted it so as not to cause further offence," he said in the statement.
Rafiq had previously told a British parliamentary inquiry that he had suffered racist abuse during his time at the Yorkshire cricket club.
