Former Netherlands and Barcelona forward Patrick Kluivert was dismissed on Monday by Turkish club Yukatel Adana Demirspor after serving as head coach for nearly half a year.

The club from Türkiye's south confirmed Kluivert's departure on X and thanked the 47-year-old for his contributions since July 1 when he was hired.

"By mutual agreement, we have parted ways with our head coach Patrick Kluivert," Adana Demirspor said and wished him best in his career.

Earning 23 points in 14 weeks, Adana Demirspor are sitting fifth in Türkiye's top-tier Trendyol Super Lig currently led by Fenerbahce, who have 37 points.

Kluivert lost his job with Adana Demirspor as the club had eight wins, six draws and six losses in 20 matches, including the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.

One of the famous players of his generation, he played for Dutch powerhouse Ajax before moving to AC Milan -- his first overseas experience.

Kluivert won the 1995 UEFA Champions League with Ajax.

He was signed by Barcelona in 1998, where he displayed a stellar performance.

Kluivert won Dutch titles with Ajax and PSV Eindhoven and the Spanish La Liga with Barcelona as a player.

Before Adana Demirspor, Kluivert was the Curacao national team's caretaker head coach. Located in the Caribbean, Curacao is an independent state tied to the Netherlands.
