Fenerbahce beat Galatasaray in women's basketball derby

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Fenerbahce women's basketball team won against Galatasaray 74-60 in Wednesday's league derby.

Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo dominated the first period 35-8 to have a massive advantage for the away win.

They secured an at least 20-point gap against Galatasaray after the second period, which ended 47-24 for Fenerbahce.

In the third period, Galatasaray fought to narrow it to 14 points as Fenerbahce were 59-45 in front.

Fenerbahce were the victors 74-60 thanks to the critical points scored in the last quarter by Satou Sabally and Kayla McBride.

McBride scored 25 points to be the derby's top scorer. Sabally had 14 points to contribute to the win.

Turkish player Tugce Canitez racked up 13 points for Fenerbahce as well.

Two Galatasaray players also reached double digits in points, with Anete Steinberga getting 19 points and Courtney Williams 13.

Victors Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo are leading the Herbalife Nutrition Women's Basketball Super Lig. They won all their 14 matches in the division.

Second-place Galatasaray now have a 12-2 win/loss record in the league.
