Fenerbahce Beko beat Valencia Basket, continuing their flawless run in EuroLeague

Istanbul club claim 79-77 win over their Spanish opponents at home

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish basketball club Fenerbahce Beko beat Spain's Valencia Basket 79-77 on Thursday to improve to a 4-0 run in the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague regular season.

Valencia Basket were leading the game 43-34 by the end of the second quarter, but the Istanbul club came back in the third quarter after a three-pointer hit by Scottie Wilbekin with six minutes to go, making it 50-47.

Fenerbahce Beko had a narrow lead with four seconds to the final buzzer, with the score 78-77.

The Turkish team's guard Marko Guduric was drawn a foul near the end of the game as the Spanish team stopped the clock.

Guduric scored his first free throw but missed the second one to start the clock again and force Valencia Basket to take a quick shot in a few seconds.

Xab Lopez-Arostegui missed a three-pointer, so Fenerbahce Beko clinched a 79-77 victory at Istanbul's Ulker Sports And Event Hall.

The Turkish club's guard Wilbekin produced 20 points for Fenerbahce Beko to be the game's top scorer.

Nigel Hayes-Davis bagged 17 points and Johnathan Motley added 16 points for Fenerbahce Beko.

Guduric scored 10 points for the victors.

Chris Jones scored 16 points for Valencia Basket.

Bojan Dubljevic produced 13 points and Sam Van Rossom chalked up 10 points for the losing side.

EuroLeague leaders Fenerbahce Beko are on a 4-0 run in the contest.

Valencia Basket are in 14th position, having a 1-3 win/loss record.
