ISTANBUL (AA) - Fenerbahce Beko head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius is currently stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to flight cancellations, the Turkish club confirmed on Sunday.
Fenerbahce told Anadolu that Jasikevicius, who was in Dubai for a holiday, was unable to leave the area following flight cancellations amid continued US-Israeli strikes on Iran and a response by Tehran.
The Istanbul club added that they are in contact with the Turkish Foreign Ministry to facilitate the head coach's safe return and are closely monitoring the situation.
The General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE previously announced a temporary and partial closure of the country's airspace as an "exceptional precautionary measure."
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the move aims to ensure flight safety, protect crews, and safeguard national territory amid accelerating security developments in the region.
